Faculty & Support
Employees: The Caribbean School has 78 employees composed of 46 teachers, of which 42 are employed full time. Six teacher aides assist in pre-kindergarten through first grade.
Staff (non-teaching) include: Headmaster, two principals, one administrative assistant, two secretaries, a comptroller, a collection clerk, two school counselors, two librarians, a librarian assistant, a lunchroom supervisor, seven kitchen staff, a maintenance supervisor, and four maintenance employees.
Faculty: All of our teachers hold bachelor degrees and 26% of our teachers hold master degrees. All of our teachers hold teaching licenses from the Puerto Rican Department of Education.

Continuous Staff development at Caribbean School includes: Days are set aside for teacher in-service related to improving instructional methods, attending educational conferences, visiting other schools, monthly in-house meetings related to ways to improve student learning, membership in numerous professional organizations, updated publications and books added to our professional library.
Recruitment: Approximately 20% of our teachers are recruited from outside of Puerto Rico. Annually, the Headmaster attends international recruiting conferences and hires teachers. The reasons for recruiting international teachers are: to support the mission of our school, to bridge Puerto Rican heritage and other cultures, to provide model English speakers, to provide a wide base of teacher training, to enhance staff development opportunities.
Approximately 80% of our teachers are recruited locally and form the base for our continued efforts to foster an appreciation of Puerto Rican heritage in an English speaking school environment. Locally hired teachers average 15 years of teaching experience and provide stability in the instructional program.
